The Art of Cool Presents: JSMN
The Art of Cool Presents: JSMN
Strongly picking up where his fellow blue-eyed-soul Detroiter, Mayer Hawthorne, left off, and after years of name changes, record label shuffling, and sound shifts, vocalist/producer Christian Berishaj, otherwise known as JMSN (pronounced “Jameson”), has finally landed in a secure position as a beloved safeguardian of soul in an era when much of today’s popular R&B has abandoned its soul roots. While his career begins in 2005 with the self-produced Love Arcade LP, it wasn’t until 2012, when he released the impassioned soul-gaze album entitled Priscilla, that he began to cause a stir—even causing R&B icon Usher to list him as one of his favorite new acts. Four years later, in 2016, after releasing two more well-received projects (Pllaje EP and JMSN Blue Album) and collaborating with artists such as Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, and Kaytranada and others, JMSN released his strongest album to date, It Is. The ballad-laden project makes feverish pit stops through fun reggae rapture (“Hypnotize”), break-up pains (“Cruel Intentions”), and the the sexy inevitability of “something feeling right in the middle of the night” (“Most of All”). More recently, under the doppelgänger Pearl, he released a project entitled Closer on which he plays producer to a host of upcoming vocalists such as Nylo, Alexa Demie and Devon Baldwin. It’s unlikely that anyone from that cast will be on-hand for JMSN’s performance, but he’ll be enough of a handful by himself to win over anyone not already familiar with his many talents. --Eric Tullis
St. Beauty
St. Beauty
St.Beauty is the soulful lovechild of Alex Belle and Isis. Both are originally from Atlanta, Georgia; a rarity in its own right in the self proclaimed “Melting Pot of the South”. Alex Belle began songwriting and arranging melodies at a young age, but truly fell in love with the stage after her first performance in a coffee shop as a
freshman in college. Isis grew interest in guitar during her first years in high school. Later, she found herself dancing and singing background for Janelle Monáe, which led her to focus on singing and songwriting. Alex Belle and Isis bring honest and personal lyrics dealing with relationships, status quo, and the freedom to be an individual. Alex Belle’s melodies are honey drenched and haunting as they linger in the minor key to deliver a richness dripping with raw emotion, while Isis’ sophistication is evident in the effortless style and grace exuded from her soothing vocals and impeccable talents on guitar. Together, they create a sound like no other. A sound that everyone will recognize. A sound that is St.Beauty.
Stella Santana
Stella Santana
Soulful. Feminine. Free-Spirited. Three key words to describe the look and sound of Stella Santana.

Born and raised in San Francisco, Stella took after her father, legendary musician Carlos Santana, in her natural ability and keen ear for music. While, piano was her instrument of choice from the tender age of 5, Stella has inevitably gravitated toward the guitar.

Destined for a career in the music industry, she often visited her father in the studio and on tour and was surrounded by some of the most incredible musical talents of our time. However, education always came first. She enrolled at Pepperdine University where she focused on Intercultural Communication.

After graduation, Stella searched for a much needed change of pace and set her sights on New York. With a one-way ticket, to New York she ventured leaving behind all family and friends. Stella began to work for a holistic doctor and learned a great deal about this type of health and wellness philosophy. Though gaining knowledge, there was still a void. Fatefully like many artists, heartbreak led to inspiration and countless hours of writing. Finally having a voice of her own and needing an outlet, she sought comfort in her first love – music.

In August 2014, Stella released her debut single "The Reason" with producer Hardy Indiigo. An EP will follow later this year.
