Once described as a "love-child of Iron Maiden, Tori Amos, Rush, and The Doors", this group is built on not one but TWO BASSES playing together to weave epic masterpieces complemented by powerful drum lines, dreamy keys, and roaring female vocals. It's a double bass punch to the face.

Lowlight
Lowlight is a female-fronted, synth-drenched indie band at the forefront of one of America’s most resurgent music scenes. Called “The hardest working and most fiercely loyal band in NJ,” Lowlight is a self-produced machine, thriving in the musical renaissance of Asbury Park, New Jersey.

Fans of Sharon Van Etten, The National, and Timber Timbre will find a familiar mix of rock, americana, and synth-pop that focuses on songcraft. Having released a live album recorded on tour with The Pretenders in 2018, Lowlight are poised to release a series of “double singles” throughout the year of 2019.

ORIGIN STORY

Although Renee Maskin (Vocals) and Derril Sellers (Guitar) were acquaintances and college classmates, their musical paths didn’t cross until years later when mutual friend and rock photographer, Mike Petzinger, brought Renee to Derril’s studio to record a solo album. Those sessions, which included Colin Ryan on percussion and Dana Sellers (Derril’s wife) on keyboards, formed the basis of the musical collaboration that became Lowlight.
When their early guitar and pedal steel player, Tony Aichele, moved to Nashville to pursue a successful career as a session musician, Rey Rivera joined on bass while Derril took over guitar playing duties. This stable lineup has brought Lowlight its distinctively modern-yet-americana aesthetic.
