MOOGfest Presents:
Home to Merge Records, the Marsalis Family, and one of the nation’s most respected jazz programs at North Carolina Central University, Durham’s music scene continues to evolve and grow as new venues, hotels and restaurants open alongside existing theaters, clubs, galleries and alternative performance spaces.

Moogfest is collaborating with the public and private sectors, locally and internationally, to create a festival experience that is expansive, inclusive and truly inspirational.
Libraness
The fourth time will feel like the first, when our candy wrappers fly out the open window, like desperate baby parrots. We make no attempt to snatch them, and besides, our hands are full. Little splashes of color added to passing brown landscape… one man’s trash, etc. The Russians have a word for it, but “going where hardwoods can’t” aptly serves as our motto and mantra. The gold lion masks will be removed, and the original packaging discarded as well. When a stranger asks, “what do you want from the store?” metaphorically speaking, it’s like splicing brittle mystery wires with yellowed scotch tape, when in reality we do all the stocking and all the shopping anyway. The assembly instructions are transliterated pictographs, so we do not include them. We will keep the old logo for now, since you’re wearing it. Thanks for doing that. Next, resisting typical usage of the same five or six deity symbols i.e. emoji to express our various and varied moods, we now choose only one: the eagle spreading its wings. A child will fill a bubble with as many different ones as possible (and the bubble can handle all of them), but it’s not as easy as it looks. The child can do it more quickly, by pure instinct, while making outstanding choices. And that really could have been the inspiration for some kind of late-winter blueprint. But then spring arrived early, and with it an urge to “do something” about Ultima Thule in hi-res, before yet another grainy cat video made the rounds and dominated our moment of almost-togetherness. One thinks of Allen Iverson, and his comments to the media. Still, we go where hardwoods can’t. Made right here. Already recycled. And now partially rebranded as a human homemade rock garden, which basically curates itself. More or less a million years ago, the haughty Sphinx asked the approaching festival-goer what walks on four legs in the morning, etc. This wise young person, Roximandias, answered “two drummers” and was correct.
Cuckoo
Cuckoo
Since his live debut in 2008, many have come to know Cuckoo's "genre" as "Happy Electro," but most probably know him for his synthesizer tutorials, jams, and presence on YouTube.
Debit
Debit
In unexpected fusions of ambient techno and dissonance with reggaeton, baile funk and other latin-based club beats, Mexican-American producer Debit harnesses the cerebral and the physical, moving our bodies and minds to her cross-genre experiments.

A visual artist and musician since childhood, Beatriz started making DIY hardware and circuit bending music in duo HDXD in 2012, after a move to Mexico City inspired by travels in South America and the U.S. There she befriended and began working with some of the producers behind groundbreaking label and collective N.A.A.F.I. before moving to NYC. With one foot still in CDMX, she kicked off her solo DJ and production career, remixing Angolan tarraxa rhythms into Missy Elliott’s Get Ur Freak On for the Pirata 4 mixtape on N.A.A.F.I. Less than a year later, her Animus LP became the first full-length solo album for the label. A hybrid of ambient techno and underground club rhythms, the album unpacks the psycho-sexual and political concept of “animus” by building a haunting, reverb-drenched world—industrial and ethereal and almost uncomfortably arresting. As part of NYC's electronic underground, she DJs regularly and co-hosts the Oraculo on The Lot radio show with Discwoman’s Riobamba.
Spencer Zahn
Spencer Zahn
Spencer Zahn is a Brooklyn based bass player and precise instrumentalist, best known for performing on stage with Kimbra.
McQueen
McQueen
Comedian/producer McQueen (Comedy Central, Funny or Die) is a one-man show extraordinaire. With every live show, it’s Reggie Watts meets Daft Punk as McQueen creates a new universe of original songs, comedy voiceovers and visuals all of which Thom Yorke of Radiohead hails as "just brilliant!"

In his all new live show, McQueen will perform his debut album BLACK CAT in its entirety, complete with original visuals for an audio and video adventure to behold as the strange world in his head comes to life through a dreamscape of sight and sound. Meet the unforgettable characters who exist within this world as a black cat, David Bowie, Kevin Costner and Harry Potter commingle and are soundtracked by triptastic narratives and soundscapes.

McQueen is the creator of the hit Comedy Central original digital series "Heads WIll Roll". He has toured nationally including headlining a Funny Or Die tour, performed at top venues in NYC and LA and festivals including New York Comedy Festival, SF Sketchfest, MOOG Fest, Waking Windows and NACA MainStage headliner.
